The news concerning the Collection's Hellcat is equally promising for Flying Legends. Persistent problems with the fuel tanks on the aircraft have led to a completely new set being made, although using the old set as patterns proved impossible as they had themselves replaced the originals at some stage and hadn't been accurately built.

In order to get to the tanks on the Hellcat, the oil coolers have to be removed, and portions of the cockpit floor also have to come out of the aircraft to allow the tanks to be removed.

While the new tanks are currently nestling in position in their respective wing bays, there are still an impressive number of Hellcat bits waiting their turn to be replaced on the aircraft. Work will again be progressing during the week of the 19th June, with successful tank pressure testing leading to ground runs and flights in time for Legends.
