1999-05-04Bristol Fighter a real possibility for Flying Legends 1999

There has been good news recently on the rebuild of the engine for The Fighter Collection's Bristol Fighter. Oil leaks from the area of the reduction gear, which were very evident during the recent engine runs and test flights, have had many hours of thought lavished on them.

The result has been that a later mod reduction gear assembly has been manufactured for fitting to the front of the engine casing itself. With everything else in both the engine and the airframe already in place, it is possible that the machine will take to the air once again before the end of May and, if these air tests prove to be successful, will be in the line up over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of July for the Flying Legends. This offers the mouth-watering possibility of TWO Bristol Fighters dancing their special dances around the airfield over that weekend - a sight not seen anywhere for a Very Long Time!
