Much of the painting of the fuselage and wing sections on the original TFC Bearcat, N700HL, has been completed. Control surfaces and outer wing panels have yet to be refitted on the aircraft but the scheme is there for all to see. The fabric control surfaces have all been recovered and repaired as necessary and painted, and are waiting to be added back in place on the aircraft. Detail of the paint scheme chosen is still a mystery to this reporter, but only as I forgot completely to take a copy of the notes which were made available to the painters. However, the cockpit canopy rail carries the legend Lt Cdr Whiff Caldwell, although you'll have to wait for details of the Great Man's unit and theatre of operations until they can be passed to me for inclusion here. One of a number of the TFC machines which are being re-registered onto the CAA lists, NH700 will be known as G-RUMM (as in Grumman...) in the future. |
