| 1996-09-17 | New Paint Scheme 1997 for TFC Corsair |
The volunteers responsible for the Corsair have begun the arduous process of paint stripping the entire airframe. This work necessarily involves a large amount of dismantling, and this will allow some deeper than anticipated servicing to take place at the same time. The aircraft has appeared in the colours of the first US Navy carrier-based Skull & Crossbones squadron, VF-17, with the personal marking of their ace pilot, Lt Ira Kepford, who was credited with 16 Japanese victories, for some years now and a new scheme has been discussed for the last two or so years. The new scheme and markings will be notified here - along with a photo if you're really lucky, as soon as they are known. | |
